Level II Scheduled...

I called MFM @ RMH today because it's been over a week & they didn't call me. I don't like to wait around, so I took care of it myself. We have our Level II ultrasound w/ a physician visit on Monday, June 8th @ 8:30 a.m. The appointment will take an hour to an hour & a half.

The physician doing the ultrasound will do a complete exam of the baby. Measurements all around, fluid check, weight, size, shape...not just of the baby, but the organs of the baby too. We are very excited to see the baby again. We are not worried or nervous at all, we just want the "high risk" portion of our pregnancy over with. We know that we are not at risk. We are at the same risk everyone else is even with my health history :-) So, stay posted for good pics of Baby H!!!

I have an appointment for just an ultrasound this Friday, May 29th...I'm sure the ultrasound tech will give me some great pics to hold us over until June 8th. This appointment is just to recheck my cervical length. I had it done at 14 wks & I am supposed to have it done at 18 wks too. I am now 19 wks....this pregnancy is flying by. I'm sure I'll have some good ultrasound pics to show you all...the benefits of working at your Doctor's office.

On another note...Nate will FINALLY be home this Saturday, May 30th. He's been gone for 2 weeks helping to get service back up & running down in Marion, IL. Doozer & I miss him a whole lot!!!! It's been very quiet around here....if you can imagine that ;-)

Well, we hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. We will continue to keep you updated on our baby progress. We are almost half way to the date....CRAZY!!!!

18 Week OB Visit

Today I had our 18 week OB visit. I say "I" because Nate is down south in Marion, IL (border of Tennessee) for 2 weeks helping out with all the lines that are down from the awful storms that they had a few weeks ago. It's great overtime money & with a baby on the way we have to take any extra money we can get!

At the appointment today I heard the heartbeat of Baby H. It's still so exciting every time. I did not need an ultrasound, so sorry no pictures :-( I did have my weight, blood pressure & urine (for those who need to know all) checked, typical check up for an OB visit. I have gained a total of 8 lbs, my blood pressure is low 98/61 & the urine is normal. The doctor said I'm on the right track with my weight gain, not too much, just right. My blood pressure is low, but I've always had low blood pressure. Nate is very jealous of that & very confused. I'm always the one that worries about everyone & everything. He is so relaxed & has rarely worries, yet he has the high blood pressure.

The next visit is in 4 weeks & will be another checkup like today! Dr. Holbrook did put the referral in to MFM @ RMH (Maternal Fetal Medicine @ Rockford Memorial Hospital), so as soon as they call we will schedule our Level II ultrasound to see how the baby is growing & make sure there is nothing going on that we need to be on alert about. We are not worried & neither is our doctor, but we'd rather be safe than sorry. Also, insurance covers it, so why not have a closer look at our baby :-) Haha. Also at this appointment we have the chance to find out the sex of the baby but, sorry.....we will not be! We want everyone to be surprised when the baby is born...sorry, to all of those planners out there you will have to wait. That is why we have the poll going on our blog!

Well, that's it for now....not too much else going on. We are both doing great just getting ready for the baby. I've already cleaned out the spare room & so ready to paint, decorate, organize & get it all ready for the final day to come (I'm sure you are all shocked by this).

We hope all of you are doing well. We look forward to seeing most of you during the summer.

Genetic Counseling Appointment

So....we had our Genetic Counseling appointment at the Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic (MFM) @ Rockford Memorial Hospital yesterday @ 2:30 p.m. What a waste of time!!!!!!!!! We spent over 2 hours discussing the "possibilities" of our child having what I had. Well, she gave us a 5% chance that the baby will have Trachea Esophageal Fistual (TE Fistula). That risk is not high enough for us to worry about anything. The genetic counselor, Gina, told us that an average person has a 3% to 4% chance of having a child born w/ a defect & she gave us 1% higher. We are not going to freak out & do extra tests & screening to find out our baby has a "chance" of anything being wrong with it. There is nothing they can do for the baby while it's still in the uterus, so why would we want to worry for the next 5 months?!?!

MFM does want us to get a Level II Ultrasound when we are 20 weeks along. We will be 20 weeks the first week of June :-) Time is flying by fast!!!! The Level II will detect if a fistula has formed or if there is extra fluid around the baby. Those are signs that something could be wrong. We are going to discuss the Level II with our OB Doctor to decide if we need to waste more of our time & insurance money.

We will of course be keeping you all updated. Hope everyone is doing well. 5 months & counting until Baby H arrives!!!!

Baby's First Moves

Today was the day....I felt the baby move for the first time!!!! It was the weirdest but most amazing feeling. At first I just thought it was hunger, but then it kept happening. It felt like I had a baby woodpecker, pecking around in there. Haha.

I met Nate for lunch today & tried to get the baby to move, but it wasn't cooperating. Of course as soon as I left & returned to work the child wouldn't stop moving around. It's antsy just like it's father. For those of you who know Nate well, he is always moving around. The man cannot sit still, unless you put him in a fishing boat :-)

Speaking of fishing....Grandpa Helgerson (Nate's Dad)....still weird to call him that; has started to show his artistic side. As many of you are aware, Nate & his father are Minnesota Vikings fans. My family & I are Chicago Bears fans....there could be confusion in Baby H's life during football season ;-) J/K Here is the latest artistry by Grandpa Bob....

Photobucket

Well, not much else is new & exciting in our family. Our high risk Maternal Fetal Medicine appointment is on Monday @ 2:30 at Rockford Memorial so we will have more updates then. We may even have more photos too!!! We love baby pictures!!!

5 Months & counting until Baby H :-)
